CAUSE:
Possibly caused by multiple winsocks and wsock32s.

Solution:

PROCEDURE

Click start | find -> files or folders
in the named box type in winsock.dll wsock32.dll

Click find now

Here is what you should find

The following are the correct or standard Winsock and Wsock32 sizes for the various Windows OS's:
W
indows 95
- Winsock.dll is 42Kb in c:\windows folder
- Wsock32.dll is 65Kb in c;\windows\system folder

Windows 98
- Winsock.dll is 21Kb in c:\windows folder
- Wsock32.dll is 40Kb in c:\windows\system folder

Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)
- Winsock.dll is 21Kb in c:\windows folder
- Wsock32.dll is 40Kb in c:\windows\system folder

Windows NT
- Winsock.dll is 3Kb
- Wsock32.dll is 20Kb

Windows 2000
- Winsock.dll is 3Kb
- Wsock32.dll is 22Kb
if you have more than these two files rename extras ie winsock.dll to winsock.old
and try again.

This can be solved in a few ways.

1) Turn off the Preview pane
2) Change E-mail clients
3) Upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.5 which should give you Outlook Express 5.5

... or just use a decent email program in the first place, such as Eudora. ;)
