Are there any customers other than ANA?

When is the first flight?

How do the specifications compare with E-jets?

Outside fuselage width: 296 cm. Compare E-jets 301 cm.
Wingspan - MRJ 29,7 m, E-190 28,7 m.

Have you tried to tell them apart? This came up in May! Not quite as bad as the small light business jet market- I think on the last count there were about a dozen different projects coming to various stages of fruition. There will be blood! It has already started- Grob have gone under. I cannot understand how cash pressed companies have all followed each other down that black hole without pausing for thought.

Well, if you take a look round the world airliner manufacturers:

Europe - Airbus (mostly big jets), ATR (turboprops).

USA - Boeing (big jets).

Canada - Bombardier (jets and turboprops).

Brazil - Embraer (jets and turboprops).

Ukraine - Antonov (jets and turboprops).

Russia - the companies Yakovlev, Tupolev, Ilyushin and Sukhoi are, I gather, merged (jets and turboprops).

China - AVIC, Xian - can anyone explain the structure?

Japan - Mitsubishi.

And that is the count of major industrial countries. With conspicuous absence of India. Can we expect an Indian airliner manufacturer to be founded soon?

Anyway, I suspect that a number of airliner manufacturers cannot fail, for political reasons, even if they are less than competitive. (But light business startups are private adventures, often several in the same country, without this kind of backing).

Rainboe asked " I cannot understand how cash pressed companies have all followed each other down that black hole without pausing for thought."

Turkeys don't vote for Christmas.

If you work for a company that is struggling the last thing employees \ management will do is say -- "This isn't going to work, lets all give up"
They will look for other jobs, save their money for when it all ends, or stick their heads in the sand.
Meanwhile managers will try to save their skin but hide the truth from employees "Everything is fine..."
Been there!

Mitsubishi to delay MRJ90 deliveries by another two years - ch-aviation.com (http://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/52608-mitsubishi-to-delay-mrj90-deliveries-by-another-two-years)

Mitsubishi to delay MRJ90 deliveries by another two years (current estimate: mid-2020)

That makes no sense.

According to the Japanese press, Mitsubishi have not specified how much the project will be delayed by, only that the mid-2018 delivery target won't be met.

MRJ likely to see fifth delivery delay amid grueling U.S. tests | The Japan Times (http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/12/26/business/mitsubishi-jetliners-initial-delivery-faces-another-delay/)

Even the linked ch-aviation article talks about likely type certification in Autumn 2019, so it would be very odd if the launch customer waited a further 9 months until mid-2020 for delivery of its first aircraft.

Program is in serious fiscal trouble, hearing on the grapevine about hundreds of lay-offs over last 6 weeks, rumours of 2 hrs notice, don't come back after lunch diktats.
