That's been a problem worldwide on 733F's particularly just below L2 & R2 doors.

There are only 3 suitable type freighter aircraft.

1. 747
2. 757
3. 727

............................anything else - good luck!;)

Something very similar happened to Jetstars predecessor and a 1900. Only the idiots decided that it was still airworthy, continued operating, wrote nothing in the M.R. and tried to hide the fact from CASA, who was on that very aircraft a sector or 2 later doing surveilance. SPRUNG

They flew this thing around unpressurized until engineering could enact a fix. Surely they could do that with these poor old 73's

why is it that there were six perfectly good payed for 727's flying around that could carry a load far more than a 737 could and now the 737's that both toll and aae have arent up to the job, what pen pusher made a decision like this!!! even with fuel costs and the fact that the aircraft were owned and the fact that 1.5x 737's do the job of 1x 727, plus the serviceability of the 737's for me i know the answer......:ugh:

It's not only the freighters that are being grounded ( and it is a regular occurance ) with Fuselage cracks. Many of the the 737-400 fleet have been found with cracks up to 1.5" long, usually found on pre-flight. They are found on the lower fuselage aft of the wing.(between the fuse. mounted emergency light and aft cargo door on the R/H side and similar poition on the L/H side.) Look at how many are patched there!.

You ask why the 737F,For starters the are owned by one of the largest share holders and are paid for in full, Also they might not carry 28T but the ecominics per KG do suggest that the 737 at 17T are far better. The 727 is needed for the capacity of the Perth run but remember there are other old Aircraft that the share holders own that are yet to be introduced into the domestic freight sceen later next year.
