What did the bent pipe/rod wrapping closely round the tyres do? To show what a numpty I am, I'm guessing that it was either a device to mitigate punctures, or a really odd way to transfer brake fluid from one side to tother?

Think you`ll find they are deflectors for the u/c doors as they retract/open.Think the Mossie had pneumatic brakes,and the pipes run down the back of the u/c legs.
