In eager anticipation of expert assistance again!

Trying to run Win 95 IBM Thinkpad with Nokia 7110 IR.

Cannot get laptop to 'see' 7110 software modem.

In desperation have removed everything but 7110 IRDA from Laptop modems and it has put itself on COM4 (The 'Generic' IRDA port is COM1 and that reads the phone IR ok). Message on modem diagnostics says 'The modem failed to respond. Make sure....etc etc'

Anyone done this successfully please? NB Have got latest MS IRDA patch.

Hi All,
I am trying to get my Motorola T250 to work via IRDA on my laptop. The computer 'sees' the phone or my PSION, but will not transfer data. Someone sais my Windows 2000 Prof OS may be to blame. Can anyone help out here.
Thanks

invalid,

Microsoft changed the way that IR works in Windows 2000 from the way it worked in Win95 and 98. The IR port no longer "looks like" a COM port to programs.
As a result, new drivers are required. See if the Motorola site has a W2K driver for your phone. If not, you may be stuck...
I had to wait quite a while until a W2K driver showed up on the Nokia site for my 8890.

David.

Thanks BayAreaLondoner,
Today I downloaded the virtual com port patch for my operating system and the Motorola T250 files and I am now able to surf (albeit slowly) by mobile. The only slight problem is I cannot access using Compuserve, something to do with a login script and 8 versus 7 data bit transfer. However, freeserve, which has no script works fine.
Thanks again.
