Been trying to work out which applies to whom!

As far as I can work out, SO's starting in HK will be on COS99 and FO's starting on a base will be on COS08. Is this correct?

I am only interested in what an SO in HK will start on. Can some one please shed some light on this for me as I have been trawling this website and others trying to work it out and the information is conflicting to say the least.

Can someone please tell me what the main differences are between the two if SO's do start on COS08. I would appreciate non-emotive answers.

Thanks in advance.

All new joiners (SO and FO) after 1st Jan 2008 are on COS08.

Most significant issue is retirement age of 65, so they get no bypass pay when pilots (on COS99 with retirement age 55) are extended.

jonathon68,

Thanks for that. Do you think that will have any major implications if joining as an SO in the next year. I have more than 30 career years to go and was told 9 years to a LHS. I think it would probably be slightly longer than that if I was realistic. Do you miss out on bypass pay when you upgrade to FO as well?

Cheers
