Sent them 2 cancellation of service letters, giving the required 1 month's notice, on July first. (one guaranteed delivery, one signed for delivery) to the two addresses I could find for them.

The guaranteed delivery letter got redirected (checked on the Royal mail site) and is still undelivered, the signed for got signed for.

Sent them a cheque on 19th July (you pay in arrears for Tiscali) for the July period.

Got my first threatening letter 1st August threatening debt collection agencies etc if I didn't cough for July

Phoned them and they said my cancellation would be effective from 19th July. They could not confirm cheque receipt. Refused to make notes on my file regarding the guaranteed/signed for letters.

After an endless argument with someone who did not understand me I gave up.

Would be grateful to hear from anyone with similar experience and what the outcome was.

Many thanks

Cron.

Having had similar problems with another ISP, I would recommend you threaten to raise the matter with trading standards. Alternatively, you may want to invoke "independent" arbitration, in this case, CISAS (http://www.cisas.org.uk/),

The regulars on this BB (http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=tiscali) may have more pertinent suggestions. :ok:
