I wonder if anyone can explain in, very simple terms, how to find appropriate icons and use them on your monitor?

At the moment I have a direct link to PPRuNe on my monitor but I would like to change the icon to something more aviation orientated. I run Windows'95, and the options seem to be limited.

Any advice gratefully received. :cool:

Right click on the icon, and select 'Create Shortcut'; a copy of the icon will appear on the desktop. Right click on this and select 'Properties', when the dialog box appears click the 'Shortcut' tab at the top and then click the 'Change Icon' button in the lower right. This will display a number of different icons in the file specified; you can select any file you like, for instance if you find and download some aviation related icons to your C: drive to a file (e.g.) c:\download\airicons.dll then you could simply type that filename into the filename line and you'll be able to pick an icon from that file.

Try this site for icon downloads;
http://www.coolarchive.com/icons.cfm?parameter=plane&number=5&width=32&height=32

Download "Planes" and there are five icons there to choose from.

I have virus checked the download, and it appears OK.

Once downloaded, you can use RandyAndy's post to place them on your desktop.

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you both very much.

I shall try it out tomorrow when I am a little less knackered.
