I wonder if PPruners could add to my definitions of old pilots. Eg Since Pontius was a pilot, since Dai Hedral was a welsh full back, I told Wilbur and I told Orville, that thing will never fly, etc.

Wonderful picture in one of Lewis Benjamin's books, showing the Tiger Club's Senior Check Pilot "GB" (Arthur Golding-Barratt) walking towards the camera in deep and thoughtful conversation with another TC pilot. John Blake added the caption from GB:

"They'll try to tell you that I taught God to fly, but it's not true you know... I only checked him out."

(Insert pilot's name here) started flying when the Dead Sea was only poorly.

(Insert pilot's name here) was in Bagdad before you were in your dad's bags! (Habbaniyah days, not the recent Gulf wars.)

At the bar, young first officer responds to pretty female's query about his tie............"The wings mean I'm a pilot and the 500 beneath the wings mean I've flown 500 hours"

Elderly captain alongside him closely examines tie................"I've got a dressing-gown made of that material !"

Old Air Force maxim:-

There are old pilots and there are bold pilots.
But there are no old, bold pilots.

He's been flying since Air Force pilots were painted blue, not wearing it ;)
