Interesting, there are some rumours flying around the moment that there is an entity that is in talks about placing a 727-200F in Australian skies operating cargo flights + ad-hoc
Apparently its going to be either -17powered engines or the Super 27
Anyone heard anything else?
Its a european company that is willing to invest and set up an AOC here in Australia?
Could there be room?

Might find its Ozjet as they did have an advertisement in last month aviation section of The Australian newspaper, for flight crews as it stated they intend to add Boeing 727 freighters to its operations.

It may be heavi lift. With the recent acquisition of Ozjet they will probably re-register their 727's that are based out of Cairns (with a foreign rego) to an Australian rego to put them on that AOC.

No, its a brand new carrier that wants to set up op's in Australia using 727 aircraft, its not ozjet or Heavylift or ex NJS aircraft

Hey Buster....Your right and even the "Spruce Goose" had only 8 engines so 17 is enormous...but perhaps Skystar320 has brought the Goose out of the museum and is adding another 9 engines for use as a freighter....:p
Should please the greenies though being made from Birch as then we could build renewable aircraft.....:E

FYI - I am meaning JT8D-17 engines.
Mind you wonder how a 727 operates with JT8D-217C....... anyone?

I am told by a good source that the JT8D-17C donks will only be the outboard engines....

The 727-200 with the -17 engines did what that aeroplane was designed to do; Get to altitude quickly with a reasonable load, not stagger past FL310 and M.82 with ease. Mind you Jet A-1 was 40 cents a gallon back then.
Cockpit set up was straight forward. No FMGS to worry about, EPR 200-202-200, stab 5.5 and flaps 15/15, green light and off we went. Oh yes, make sure the oiler had the fuel pumps on, generators on line and the packs on. Sounded like a real aeroplane too.
