Well the RAF did it at the 1950 RAF Air Display at Farnborough as this press report shows:

Vampires of Nos. 3 and 16 Squadrons therefore provided an accurate spray of practice-bombs. When the resulting clouds of smoke had dispersed, six more Vampires piled in with 60lb rocket projectiles. Great fountains of earth erupted round the unfortunate enemy, and the combined sounds of Vampires, rockets and 60lb concrete warheads striking home evidently made a deep (metaphorical) impression on spectators

I was there as a young lad and recall how exciting it was to hear the whoosh of the rockets as they were fired by Vampires almost overhead at targets at the western end of the airfield and the whoomp as they hit - brilliant stuff!

Happy display days that sadly we'll never see again.
