Anyone have info regarding this?Such as delivery dates? The 350 was expected but the 330-300's are a surprise.

No idea of the dates but we were expecting some of the 330-200s to be replaced with the 300s. Not sure if it is all or some of them.

Thanks for that- found it. I expect the 330-300 will be a replacement for most if not all of the 200s which are pretty much too small and too old now. It is probably cheaper to get 300s than do the refit which the old 330s now desperately need.

Emirates Airline has announced plans for the US $11.8bn order of 60 more aircrafts from Airbus at an event in Hamburg to mark the hand-over of the first A380 plane.

The airline revealed it had signed preliminary orders for 30 A330s and 30 A350s from the planemaker as it unveiled its first fully customised A380 to the world´s media on Monday.

Emirates will have 112 A350s on order once the letter of intent is followed by a firm contract.

Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and other executives from the carrier were given a first tour around the double-decker A380 at Airbus’s facility during the ceremony.

“The A380 is the flagship of Emirates today,” said al-Maktoum. “We may not be the first to fly the plane but we were the first to sign. The future has arrived and we at Emirates are very proud to play a part.”

Just out of interest any idea when the 330-300's start being delivered? The 332's are getting a bit crusty......

I remember hearing at the time of the original A350 order that Airbus had offered to just about give away a buch of A330-300s to sweeten the deal if EK bought the 350 instead of the 787-guess it was true!!

Aren't these the same orders as bought at Dubai last year, how many times can you make a headline out of buying the same aeroplane?

Well, the 30 350's are 'firmed' up from 50 options, and the 330-300's are NEW orders.... So I guess they can make headlines again, after all, it is a bucketload of money:}
