Jfk Delay

I'm stranded on the runway at Syracuse in upstate NY, AA258 has been on the ground 4.5 hours now, after 'delays at JFK'. When we landed, there were around 8 other aircraft here including a KLM 747. It took 2 hours to refuel, and all the time the flight crew kept giving us pessimistic estimates of wheels up times. The last one was an hour ago, promising we would be wheels up at 8pm. Our original arrival time was 3.30pm, we left Vegas 4.5 hours before then.

So far: 9 hours on board, the overflowing toilets were mercifully pumped out after some econpmy passengers felt sick. 180 bags of chips were delivered. But we are stuck onboard, and it's getting dark outside.

Does anyone know what on earth is happening?

Sorry to hear of your plight. Major weather delays into boston airspace due to thunder storms. I was enroute to Moncton and heard many trans atlantic flights were being diverted to Montreal.

I have just returned to the hotel having spent the last 5hrs at Terminal 2 trying to position to Houston on Delta.....Almost 50% of flights out of JFK have been cancelled and we were told there is up to 7 hrs delay.

The weather here in NY has been dreadful all day ...since early this morning there has been continous thunder and lightning with torrential rain...it is now 2030 local time and the rain has stopped but cloud base is still pretty low.

Noticeboards state flight cancellations are due to severe weather conditions and the situation is not expected to improve for some time.

Suggest you hunker down with a large G&T.
