DGCA Currency requirements on FAA FATA

Hi

i'm flying part 91 on a [Indian part 135] aircraft.

My question for the guys working for the airlines on a FATA - specifically on an FAA license is this.

Are your checks done by an FAA examiner every six months or every twelve months?

My company says that I only need to do 12 monthly FAA checks and 6 monthly DGCA checks to keep my FATA current.

They say that the DGCA is happy with that - but i thought my FAA license needed to be Current also?

If you are a Captain here your checks(LR/IR) are done every six months by a DGCA approved check airman. The FAA has nothing to do with it. You are not flying a US registered airplane in US airspace. The DGCA is allowing you to exercise your privileges based on your FAA licesnes

Ok here's my question which I asked the DGCA by writting which of course I did not get a reply. I'm flying a VT A/C I was issued a FATA based on my FAA license part 91. My indian operator is a non-sched charter operator! How in the world can I legally fly charters equivalent part 135 in india on a part 91 license. The regs as I read them on the DGCA web site state that my FATA is valid " subject to the requirements/conditions stipulated by the contracting state who issued the license" Therefore I cannot increase my priviledges simply by obtaining a FATA! Does anyone else have this issue?

its issued based on ur original licence and your priveleges stipulated on your home contry licence.

but what do you airline guys do to keep your FAA linecse current??

6 mo or 12 mo FAA checks???

let the company spend for renewal of your home base licence....
if they donot agree means you are dispensable.

It would appear your company is correct. To remain current on your FAA license When flying FAR part 91 aircraft,FAA 61.58 would apply to your case and you require as PIC
1) within the preceding 12 calendar months complete a PIC proficiency check in an aircraft that is type certificated for more than one required pilot.
2) within 24 months complete a PIC check in the aircraft for that type you are flying
