A friend came around yesterday while having ‘tea’ he saw my recently delivered invoice for storage charges, he was shocked that I was charged VAT on the storage, according to him VAT is no longer applicable on storage? Before I go full steam with my storage company, can anyone here confirm either way?
thanks guys

I've had stuff in storage for the last 8 years (Don't ask, long story) I'm not charged VAT because I'm no longer a UK resident.
Other than that, not sure what to say
I do NOT pay VAT on my storage. (Nothing to with me being non-resident either as I use a friends UK address for invoicing purposes)

Thanks for the link, but it didn't really give an answer...However, I wrote to my storage company and asked for an explanation...
Thank you for your email.
Vat will not apply when using a "Self Storage" facility, but applies to "Containerised Storage"

Anyone care to define "Self Storage"?
I always thought the storage is containerised!
