Gday Ladies and Gents, I am in need of one of those basic sims for my laptop as i have a dreaded renewal approaching and need to get a bit of practice in.

Anyone have one that they are willing to share?

If so pm me and i will send you my email

Thanks

Maybe this? Tim's Air Navigation Simulator (http://www.visi.com/~mim/nav/) or this? luizmonteiro.com (http://www.luizmonteiro.com/Learning.aspx)

I had exactly the same problem and ended up buying this one : www.flyingdynamics.com (http://www.flyingdynamics.com)

Not very expensive and was perfect for NDB & VOR stuff...you can fly them in real time...well worth the money:ok:

FSX available at Harvey Norman and other software stores! And it's tax deductible if you need your IR for work! :ok:

I initially used FSX but I wanted something where you dont have to manipulate an aircraft as well. The flying dynamics one is great because you just use left & right and you dont have to worry about the precision required for flying the flight sim.

Great for (re)training the brain for NDB & VOR approaches & examining the relationship between needle position & heading bug etc:ok:

What you can do is turn on MS Flight Sim, and use the autopilot to control the aircraft. Just set heading and alt/vs hold.

You can re-position the acft in MS FS too

Go to the map view, click on the acft and drag it to where you want it.

Great for re-positioning on the ILS or looking at TO-FROM on the VOR; changing the relative bearing on the ADF needle. :ok:

Try these:

Aviation Supplies & Academics: Instrument Refresher Demo (http://www.asa2fly.com/Instrument-Refresher-Demo-C192_category.aspx)

Aviation Supplies & Academics: On Top Demo (http://www.asa2fly.com/On-Top-Demo-C151_category.aspx)

Not instrument rated myself so not sure how good it really is but have used this program to practice VOR and NDBs before and was quite happy.

As said previously simply put the autopilot on and fly with the heading bug.
