When a BA pilot of my acquaintance converted from 747 to 757 he flew the 757 for 6 months, did a short conversion course and then flew the 757 and 767. One of the touted benefits of the Airbus sidestick equipped family is that pilots can dual qualify although whether anyone will ever qualify for the 318 and the 380 is an interesting one.

On the Airbus family you can be rated on the A320 series (giving you A319,320 and 321 on your licence) and then if you do an A330 CCQ course you can fly that as well. So on a Monday (for example) you could fly a short trip to Amsterdam or Glasgow in a 319 and on Tuesday you could launch TransAtlantic in your 330
