First Choice Airways Battle a take over or a merge???

Just want to know what other Fca crew think about this so call merge we had, is it a merge or a take over????

I'm not to sure if this merge is as good as it's been made out to be. maybe it will be a good thing. i'm crew for FCA in Dublin and i'm kind of unsure as to how it will turn out. is there job security? will the base to closed down? with Monarch opening its all year round base in dublin what does this mean for winter fca crew? with fuel cost would it be easier to close the base down then to pay out more to keep it open?

with FS's been offered serverance deals makes me worry even more.. is this a hint for crew take the deal while the going's good?

Monarch have had all year ops in DUB for 8yrs now. It is however the first year they have locally based crew but this is currently seasonal. So irish/UK crew for the summer and UK crew for the winter. However this could change in oct when decisions are made to keep the crew or not!

Probably cheaper to keep the local crew.

FCA have been in DUB for a long time and i can actually see them growing in DUB under the new brand!

Heres hoping for all the FCA DUB crew!

If you go onto the Thomson website they have incorporated the ex FCA bases(such as EXT) into their website in preparation for next summer, However Dublin is not on the website:confused:

That,BlueTui, is because it'll probably be listed on the Falcon holidays/JWT websites.

The 'First Choice Holidays' brand was never marketed in Ireland as FCA were flying for Falcon/JWT.

Please forgive an interjection from someone outside the industry, who specialises in organizational change management.

There are very few "mergers", although many are positioned this way to make people feel better (fair enough, it is not a great feeling to see your old company/culture subsumed.)

If you form the view that you have experienced a takeover, you have two main choices

1 - accept the change and work very proactively at embracing the culture of the new owner and scouting for opportunities to become embedded within it

2 - decide that your future is no longer at the company and leave, most importantly, when it works for you and certainly not in haste

The worst thing to do is to stay and feel bad, this will become obvious in your behaviour (even if you try not to let it) and will reflect bdaly on you, as well as increasing your stress levels.

I hope it all works out very well for you and, as with all unsolicited advice, do feel free to reject or accept it at your complete discretion.

yeah i just noticed that there myself, but we are operating a C reg so were very much outside that bracket even before this so called merge so i wouldnt be to worried about that. but thanks for the heads up :ok:

Its very hard to discuss working in a seasonal airline if you haven't lived it. Airlines like FCA and MON etc have the bulk of there work in the summer and ski charters and ad hocs in the winter which makes it very difficult to plan ahead as contracts get lost and won.

Dublin is in an awkward position this year with the arrival of JetX and Monarch both of which have flights in the winter. Then theres XL, Futura Gael & Flightline etc which makes a very competitive market.

Airlines like Monarch do flights for my travel ireland, thomas cook and panorama. So if you ever see an ad for Thomas cook/ my travel crew i think it would be a good position to go for as its quite safe.

JetX again is a fairly safe airline with Budget travel behind it.

i think FCA are safe even though using the C reg 757. The A320 g- reg i'm sure will be back! Fca have a hugh contract with Falcon & JWT which will see it through. :ok:

I have heard from a reliable source that Monarch have expansion plans for 2009/10 for Dublin. Not too sure where that leaves others. What this space
