Does anybody know how the IR is scored and what are good scores to be getting.

I assume you mean the IR skills test. A good score is a pass, an OK score is a partial, and a bad score is a fail

... and a very bad score is a second fail... and a very very bad score is a failed fail...

But then again it all depends on the Examiner you get!

I mean the scores for the progress checks is 3+s and 4+s good scores and is it marked out of 5 or 10. I hope its out of 5 :ugh:

that sounds like a FTO's own internal marking system while undergoing training

Doctor Doom you might want to elaborate a little bit. Just a suggestion.......

As coodem said, those progress test scores are specific to your FTO.

If you're interested in how the Initial IR test is scored, Standards Document 1 reveals all... http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG_FCL_01.PDF

Good luck!

As has been said, these will be internal FTO scores. At the FTO I trained at the scoring system was, very roughly, (1) sky-God like, (2) above average, (3) satisfactory/average/on target, (4) some areas unsatisfactory, (5) you shouldn't be here, etc.

Surely you can discuss scores/progress with your instructor and surely the school you're at has literature explaining the scoring!?

B&S :bored:

You start the skill test with a pass - the deal is don't @#$% up or you will lose it.

It's a bit like ice skating - marks out of 6, comprised technical merit, style and originality. Don't neglect your costume either.

It must be just my FTO marking system, I will ask my instructor. We get marked up on every session we do, its like being back in school . Thanks PA28pilot for the link so good reading :ok:
