O.K. I'm thinking of buying a digital camera and I'd like to know what the differences are between the two storage types (besides the obvious and small price diff.). If I paid a fair wack for the camera I'd hate to get left with a dying breed. VHS/Betamax springs to mind. Do you think they are both here to stay? The only thing I can think of is the compact flash could be used in a Psion 5. (When I upgrade from a 3c)
Cheers!!!

Nikon 990 and Canon S10 & S20 have gone for Compact Flash.
It seems that's the way to go.
Both 3mb+ cameras will also accept the new 340MB IBM Microdrive.
I could also be wrong :)

Agfa have also just released a camera that takes the new click drive storage media, around 40mb I think. The best thing is they are much much cheaper than the smartmedia or compact flas type of storage. see http://www.novatech.co.uk for prices

Cheers guys!
Yet another storage medium http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif It's a shame they can't settle on just one standard.
I see in the sony range some even use standard 'floppy' discs and Olympus take both smart media and compact flash.
I'm tempted to go for the Nikon coolpix 990....when the price drops a bit.
