Well bloke at Microsoft has spent a while trying to help me with fixes to my problem.
His solution:
REFUND! :)
I wouldnt mind so much, except hearing that BA and the US Forces recommending it has put me into further despair!
Looks like FLY! or something like that will get a new customer soon!! http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif

What problems did you encounter, Bovingdon? I had a few problems with FS2000, initially, with my old machine. Once upgraded, everything ran OK. Also tried FLY on my old computer and it ran slower than FS2000.

I have never had a moments problems with FS2K and I rather feel that the machine you had would not play!

Fly is OK but as Doors says it's slower, and you HAVE to like GA only.

Do you want to talk about it? Have a look at my site www.uksim.co.uk (http://www.uksim.co.uk) There is some great stuff ready for you.

See my earlier posts "FS2K a New prob" or something like that!

Im running on a PIII 500Mhz, 32mb Graphics, 128MB RAM...etc!

If that cant cope, what can!!
The thing is everything worked PERFECTLY, until it crashed. Since then, no joy!!
You mention FLY!! is there any other REALISTIC sims out there that would be good prep for selection tests/real flying career?

I've tried draw your attention to the excellent Boeing 757 available for Fly, but don't take just my word for it..... http://www.avsim.com/pages/0200/pmdg/pm757update.shtml

I sit corrected. You are quite right. But it is a standalone and you can't download any other aircraft unless they are 'made' for it.

Fly! does have other than GA aircraft, as was stated above. Shareware scenery, aircraft, and panels are on their way unless I'm mistaken. One has to keep in mind that the sim is quite new.

I think these links have shareware stuff on their way:

Fly! is quite excellent....the patches have been improving lots of little quirks here and there. Keep your eyes out for Sky! 2, released by howintheworld.com.

Oh one more point of interest on sims..

For those of you into the engineering/design aspects of flight, the simulator X-Plane is apparently used by aircraft companies and even NASA to test out new designs before the prototype is actually built.

Its currently going fo $129 for a few more weeks, then back to $200.

Have a look at www.x-plane.com (http://www.x-plane.com)

Whats the catch?!!
Thanks again everyone for all your help!
FLY looks to be the next best alternative, although Im praying that my FS2K will work!!

There's no catch. I bought it before I upgraded my computer hoping that it would run better than FS2000 - which it didn't. (Should run OK with 128MB though.) Now I am running a 700MHz which runs FS2000 fine so I have no use for FLY.

Bovingdon,

Surprised about your hardware config. Mine is similar, PIII 500MHz, but only 64K RAM, 8Mb video card and FS2000 runs fine??? The computer was new at Christmas though and has a very clean registry - can this partially be part of your woes???

Apparently there is a web site www.outertech.com (http://www.outertech.com) with a program called Cacheman which helps frame rates, etc.
