Just a quick question on the harrier for those in the know (idle curiosity has got the better of me today) - is the harrier capable of being started without any ground equipment/personnel whatsoever or is some sort of external power/assistance required?
Thanks in advance.

One continually makes a loud whining noise, the other's a jet engine.

John
The Harrier has its own GTS (Gas Turbine Starter) which means it does not need any kind of external equipment or ground crew to be able to start it.
Gosh Spheroid, I've never heard that one before!! The old ones are the best ones!

He will ignore any non Harrier Jock.:ok:

A 32 Sqn Pilot asked me when I picked him up from the mess, "Whats morale like here?" I replied " OK as far as I know?" His retort was "I've never been in a mess before were I've been totally ignored!"
