View Full Version : Ryanair's Website Having Difficulties?

Is the GB (English) website working normally ATM?

According to this website it is not.
Budget Airline FlightChecker tells you when to go for the cheapest price: MoneySavingExpert.com (http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/)

Or is it all to do with the latest web scraping issues?

The Ryanair website loaded up slowly, then when I went through the process of a booking, the following message was shown:

"We regret, due to system slow down issues, we have been unable to display the tax inclusive fare box on this page, since 25/06/2008. We are currently working with our suppliers, including Navitaire to resolve these problems and hope to restore the tax, fees & charges inclusive display shortly."

Apart from that it seems to be working well. Perhaps because taxes are included initially that other website won't use Ryanair data?

Moneysavingexpert does include taxes in their results. Have you found a decent website for budget airlines that will do multiple searches? It's a bit long-winded with Ryanair, but then it's probably the way they want it?

Skyscanner.net is pretty good.

>Skyscanner.net is pretty good.

Thanks for the link julietnovemberpapa. I found it useful.

It appears as if Ryanair and Easyjet are taking certain Dutch and German webscraping websites to court ATM.

Look here:-
Is Screenscraping Legal? Ryanair Versus Bravofly (http://www.mulogy.com/blog/2008/07/is-screenscraping-legal-ryanair-versus-bravofly)

IMO this will be to their detriment. Most websites welcome scraping if it generates business for them. If only they would improve their own sites regarding flight availability/pricing, then webscrapers wouldn't be necessary?

Ryanair and Easyjet are taking this action for the simple reason that we all know they make money out of their ancillary services such as hotels, car hire, Insurance etc etc.

These other sites simply wish to take th Ryan Easy flight and have the passengers book ancilliary extras with them instead thereby depriving Ryan and Easy of revenue.

It's a different scenario for other products and services whcih is why they don't object too much.

It looks like skyscanner.net is not throwing up any Ryanair flights. Are there any that still do?

It's rather long winded using the Ryanair site.

I have tried doing searches on several other sites and it appears as if they have given up on Ryanair.

Skyscanner most definitely did include FR - including just two days' ago. But seemingly no longer.

Confirmed. Can't find a site that does include FR.

A elderly but sane German friend complained to me today about "Ryanair's cheap software" which "didn't recognise" his VISA card and I tried it for him - sure enuff it bombed out at payment stage. I searched and booked on my VISA and it went thru perfectly. Given when the booking process failed, I suspect he didn't know his EXACT card billing address.

Comment: It's always easier to blame Ryanair for everything rather than looking for the truth.

As for joking about Ryanair crew "buying their licenses on E-Bay", I wish the other airline crews flying into my local airport were as professional and competent as Ryanair are.

RaF (15 Ryanair flights so far this year and not a single complaint - except for the drunken German SLF's in the seats behind me).

Seems FR is again loaded in Skyscanner.net.

Has anyone else noticed the risible claim in the latest edition of Ryanair's in-flight magazine, only recently released, that the new IT system speeds up bookings and (get this) makes it easier to find low fares? Who else misses that wonderful low fare search facility? The 6/7 day view, which itself has disappeared entirely, was nothing like as good and struck me immediately as an attempt to improve yields. In this respect, easyJet's "low fare by month" list is (a little) better. Right now, trying to find a low fare on Ryanair involves a day by day search with some agonisingly slow waits for pages to load. Guaranteed to put off all but the most determined or impecunious, I'd say.

Meant Alicante...

Still didn't have any joy though....:ugh:

Ryanair are starting to get some unwanted attention regarding their "website difficulties"

BBC NEWS | Business | Ryanair price error 'to be fixed' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7522043.stm)

Perhaps now they will actually do something about it?

I'm not an IT expert, but does anyone know why it's taking weeks to solve this problem?

Ryanair may be putting a brave face on it in public, but I wouldn't like to be the software developers on the receiving end of O'Leary's fury.

(Did they select a "low cost" software house? :) )

After one more "essential system maintenance" this afternoon, Ryanair's booking system is working faster now. I'm a bit disturbed, however. Right now it works with Internet Explorer and at the same time it rejects Firefox booking requests (at least on my system).

Selecting some passengers, rejecting others? :hmm:
