Just wondering if anyone has any updated info on Brindabella Airlines. I've looked up previous posts, but would appreciate any info on the company; pay etc.

The J41 looks like a great aircraft and I would love to get a position with them.

Cheers

The Jetstream 41 is a great machine; it's a shame it's not in production now because the DOCs are very low compared to most others. The Garretts are much better on fuel than the Pratts.

Agcatman,

Hopefully some of this info. might be useful to you.

Brindabella is running its second J41 groundcourse this week.

They have just opened a base in PMQ with the J41 doing the evening runs to CFS - BNE - CFS - PMQ until they get more staff.

Currently have 4 Captains and 2 F/O's checked-to-line with 1 F/O in training and 1 Captain waiting on a base check. The latest course has 3 Captain's & 4 F/O's.

At present there are 2 full-time Captains authorised to conduct line training, only one is check and training (both are based in CBR). There is also 1 Check and Training Captain on loan from NZ for the next few weeks.

The third & fourth J41 are schedueled to arrive early - mid next year.

The company should be moving into its new $1 million hangar within the next 3 months.

The loads are pretty good and often have the max of 30 pax. Most are military, business and government regulars.

The J41 looks like a real pleasure to fly. All of the pilots that are currently flying it are singing its praises, especially when it overhauls the Dash 8 200 & 300's in both the climb and cruise.

Overall, Brindabella seems to be a great company to work for with a close knit family feeling about it.

Give them a call sometime, I'm sure they will be more than happy to have a chat with you.

Never worked for them, but have had dealings with them (including flying their PA31's) since 1995 and I have always found them friendly. They look after their aircraft and pilots. I remember showing them around the J31 a few years back at the RAAA at MCY, as they were looking at a Metro replacement. If I ever go back to regional flying they would be at the top of my list.

Yeah, I did 2800 hours on the J-41 and it was wayyyy before it's time. They need to start producing them again.

Does anybody happen to know what the J41 pay is?

Must be acceptable otherwise nobody would be working for 'em. How about worrying whether they want you first, then making the decision?

Thus waisting their time and yours if it isn't? I have never gone for an interview without some idea as to whether the deal was acceptable.

I'm sorry, but there's something more important to me than money, like waking up in the morning and enjoying going to work. I think the two don't need to be exclusive of each other by the way, but I find mercenary attitudes like these tiring.

If you could offer me a half decent wage flying the Jetstream out of Port, not having to worry about jet-lag, and dealing with customs all the time, I must admit it seems quite tempting.

"Garrett's" are better on fuel than pratts? Is that on a direct HP for HP comparison? They Love a spanner and if you didn't find that during your 2800hrs then you had a great run!:ok: The ground crew are always diving for the ear muffs when a Garrett is aproaching! I am told they are quiter in the air than a pratt is but I cant say I can tell? If the machine is going to suit Brindabella's work with low DOC's that will be great for them. I would be asking what the package is before looking into it to deep so as not to waist anybody's time if it does not suit:cool:

Enjoy Customs Kanga :D You could always put an app. into Brindabella!

We had a fleet with the PW-121/124 as well as the Garrett TPE-331-14GR/HR and the Garrett used less fuel on same sectors, was mated to an airframe that flew 40 knots faster and didn't used nearly the same amount of oil.

The engines are beefed up to those that you might have seen on an old turbo prop Commander. They are flat-rated to 1650 shp with an APR to 1946 and protected to some degree by an IEC system that also allows a monitored simple start procedure with variable ITT protections.

I really enjoyed this plane alot! I never had any real problems with the ones we flew. Sadly we did have an old Impulse one for a short while and it seemed like some of the stuff on that one got fried pretty badly. It was in the hangar a whole bunch.

A J41 does operate from Brisbane on the BN-CFS-PMQ route.

But it's based in PMQ and they have the Metro based in BNE doing the TMW run. My question refers to the Metro operating TMW.

don't think the loads are good enough for the J41 yet. I would imagine an increase in metro frequency on the route before a larger type.
Don't know what the pay is but I suspect it is the bare award and not a cent more!

I hear the Chief Pilot / Head of Check & Training is really good to deal with.

Seems the J41 crew don't get worked very hard (at least the Canberra crew don't). Last time I was talking with them, the pay was above the award for both Captain's (around the 65-70k mark) & F/O's (around 45-50k).

Hi all,

Chasing up info regarding Brindabella Airlines as employer and also interview and application details.

Their website is pretty informative, though I was after juicey info from insiders, previous employees or friends of friends... etc

They seem to be the quiet achiever on the east coast.

Feel free to PM me.

Thanks.

G'day Mate
How are ya ?

I have been reading your post in regards to Brindabella Airlines and I have been trying to get a job with them.

I do not know an awful lot about the company but all I know is that I have heard a lof of good things about them and there is a room for progression from Metro III to J41.They seem to be very professional and is a very close knit family and their a/c's are really in top condition.

I was wondering if you happen to give me the low down as who to contact to for the job and what is the interview process for them.

Thanks in advance

MD
