the British Eagle / Air Atlantique DC-6, G-APSA, is going to be a busy girl tomorrow: first Luton (from 1100) then London City, where she's landing!!

More details on the Six (http://www.thedc6.com) website.

After a spell in the Arabian Gulf she was brought home to England in 1987

Was the aircraft ever with Iran Air?

G-APSA was delivered new to Eagle Airways in 1958 and served with Cunard Eagle and British Eagle until sold in February 1964 to Saudi Arabian Airlines as HZ-ADA. They leased it at some time to Yemen Airways as 4W-ABQ.

It was returned to the UK as G-APSA when sold to Air Atlantique.

There is no record of any lease to Iran Air.

It seems that Eagle Airways wasn't the first owner.

See Douglas DC-6 (http://www.ruudleeuw.com/dc6.htm)

G-APSA saw its "birth" a long time ago: delivered to Maritime Central Airways as CF-MCK in june 1958. G-APSA was assigned to it when it was registered for Eagle Aviation in sep.1958. It went to the desert for Saudi Arabian Airlines in feb.1964, where it flew with tailnumber HZ-ADA. It was graciously donated to Yemen Airways in 1971 and changed to 4W-ABQ. It was stored some time at Sana'a, Yemen before Air Atlantique bought it feb.1987 and registered it to G-APSA again.

Some pics of the DC6 from the LCY Fun Day airshow. It was an awesome piece of flying and the sound of the four engines was gorgeous. Was around over London again yesterday.
