Herts & Essex Aero Club

Has anyone out there ever been associated with this flying club, & or have pics of the A/C. & airfield at Broxbourne Herts from 1931 to 1953 -- or when they moved to Stapleford Tawney in 1953. until they changed their title shortly afterwards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Windriver for those pieces of info --- I would be delighted to see any pics you can dig up please, I worked at Broxbourne during WW11 on the airframes of Proctors, Vega Gulls, Q6 Petrels, Miles Magisters, Slingsby 'Cadet' training gliders, it was then named Herts & Essex Aviation until 1946 when it reverted to it's original name, finally changing it when the club moved to Stapleford.
Have you any pics of Proctors etc please?

My father, Albert (Nick) Nichols worked for Buster Frogley. Nick is 90 and has memories of the Essex and Herts Flying club. He claims to have rescued Buster from at least one crash! He also worked on Gen DeGaulle's personal aeroplane - it had twin Renault Bengali 6's, and says they were a copy of the Gypsy 6 of the time. He tells me that the airframe had been damaged and was brought to Frogley's for repair by the Free French Army. They were offered a replacement D-H at the time but refused. The repairs were managed by the Civilian Repair Organisation, apparently, not through the then Biritish Government.

Residents of Nazeing until 1964, we remember the old club house and, Nick's wife, Mavis, also worked at Wrightons, after the war. Nick's father owned a number of glass houses on Nursery Road.
