I have heard that Headhunters have been given the task of finding a new CEO for Gulf Air. Maybe the new Board are not impressed?

Now that really would be a shame. If BN were to be replaced who would appear in every edition of the GDN surrounded by a host of stewardesses cutting yet another cake?It seems that is all he is good for.He is just another PR man who has VERY little aviation experience. Why or how he came to be CEO is one of lifes mysteries.I think he should leave before his lack of experience prevents him having photo shoots anywhere else.Although I think if the rumour is true and i too have heard it,he will find it very difficult to find employment anywhere else(no one is that lucky). Let him leave to wander into the sunset being followed by a gaggle of stewardesses a big cake and could some one please organise a camera that truly would be a kodac moment.

I am told he lacks even the most basic commercial awareness. As he has recently got rid of his top commercial guy who is running the commercial side of the airline? Worrying.

The top commercial guy quit...he quit because he wasn't confirmed as VP marketing and sales...but he was acting VP during the previous management, and even though he "performed" the role for a year he wasn't confirmed by the previous management...

My point is, the "top commercial guy" is not good enough to be VP. The last management didnt think so, and this lot dont think so.

The "top commercial guy" was a really nice guy but knew absolutely zero about what he should be doing that's why he was sacked.

Which begs the question "if the top commercial guy wasn't good enough, then why have him in an "acting VP" role for so long?" And more importantly why get rid of him when there's no successor in place? Leaves a bit of a vacuum doesn't it?

I don't think GF will get any better than BN. Simply because who appointed the failure BN, is the same guy who is gonna appoint any new CEO. :ugh:

Was having dinner the other night at Zoes with some friends and we were discussing life and one of guys mentioned that he heard from a lawyer friend that GF is not legally registered as a sole Bahraini company (its has joint legality with one of the founder states), in fact he claimed that Bahrain Air was the only legally registered airline in Bahrain.

Is he talking c**p?

It did occur to me that the aircraft are bahraini reg but apparently that means nothing in legal worlds.

When the "nice" commercial guy over committed tickets for F1 to VIPs and called all the VP secretaries in for interrogation and made them sign confessions to shift the blame from himself, he wasnt so "nice"

When the "nice" commercial guy unilaterally ammended staff employment contracts without the consent of the staff concerned to fit his budget, he wasnt so "nice"

but you are right, he does "seem" nice when you dont have to actually work with him

How could both Doze and Naef possibly run an (other) airline, if they were not able running Swiss before? can't understand why they have ever been appointed - somebody must have been blind(ed). :=:D

Hope you all have noticed Gordon has followed my dogs advice to improved his image by leaving the country on various expensive tours over the next few weeks...I think he is possibly looking for a future job in the Gulf and arranging to tax you Brits down there.

1. Does the new Chairman TZ know what is happenning?2. Does he know that BN is not a decision maker?3. Does he know that he is a discriminator he has caused hell of problems and conflicts in Gf?4. Does the BoD know that BN makes every possible effort to present wrong fabricated facts about the only few management members who know their job and what they do? Is he scared?5. Does the Board know BN is only good to attend social gatherings and events not forgetting taking hundereds of Flight Attendents with him for a lovely night? oooooops not forgetting BN than gets drunk and X%$^&*:D6. Do the Board know he is playing with company money for parties and parties?7. Do they know the company is run by TT (the cousine)?8. The company is run with TT decisions and desire lists ?9. Do they know TT the Strategy man is taking the company down the drain?10. TT fu**ed up with the PVG flight but everyone else was blamed except TT off course not he is the favorite?11. TT fu**ed up with the A321 deal, and know it is the favorite time for BN and TT to blame someone elase most probebly Baharini to cut his head as TT must be safe and untouched?12. Do they know that BN enjoys humiliating every one who has an appointment with him no matter who, everyone has to wait at least at least at least 20 minutes because no one is important but only BN is important?13. Do they know he presensts the wrong facts to them? But there is no one who wants to listen?????If there was only someone to listen ????

BTW: TT is not the cousine

I think it's unfair to dismiss the achievements of Gulf Air CEO who has done a lot for the airline in a very short span of time. For the employees he has aligned salaries. Pilots, crew and engineers have seen this benefit and i understand that there is something in the pipeline for all remaining. The other issue is our punctuality has improved dramatically despite the sorry state of the company's aircrafts. I think like Bjorn always says, that he cannot do it alone and needs support from his team that he has empowered and relies on. I think we need to support him and surely we will all one day be thankful to have him around. He has good relations with the Board, is an excellent speaker and carries himself well and above all knows the business and knows what he is talking. This will only create more turbulence for the company and severely impact the image of our airline. And he is performing well as a CEO and knows how to fix our troubled airline and I don't believe the rumours that there is a headhunt to find his replacement. And to be honest what for, when things are improving for us. Our image is a lot better than what it was a year ago. People are beginning to be believe in our airline more than ever before and since the past few years. Let's all join hands and help our CEO fix the airline we can't waste our time complaining:)

2. Does he know that BN is not a decision maker?
In a corporation like GF and many others companies the decisions are not made solely by the CEO.

3. Does he know that he is a discriminator he has caused hell of problems and conflicts in GF?
To indentify the good and bad staff and point out the bad sectors which need improvement is not to be a discriminator since our aim is to be a decent airline.

5. Does the Board know BN is only good to attend social gatherings and events not forgetting taking hundreds of Flight Attendants with him for a lovely night?
I think you mean that after F1 grand prix party that I believe was already in the F1 schedule and budget since GF is the main sponsor. And to attend social events is just one of the many duties a CEO has to perform since he is the main company representative. I have noticed in this few years in GF and surveying older advertisements that the flight attendants were always there, does not matter who was the CEO. Did you noticed the row of people at the GDN picture on the article about the A321’s arrival some days ago? Seems that he is not the only one who like to be flashed and the CEO was not there!

Do they know that BN enjoys humiliating everyone who has an appointment with him no matter who, everyone has to wait at least at least at least 20 minutes because no one is important but only BN is important?
I have been there for an appointment maybe one year ago and had to wait for more than twenty minutes and I had the opportunity to see how busy the CEO and his team was and how many very important things and decision he has to make and for sure he has no time to spend with rumours and gossips. He is a straight forward person that wants to know exactly what you want to provide you the best answer or solution for you. Try to meet a CEO at any company and you will see how difficult it is. A good CEO does not spend time talking about useless things and in GF we were always informed about facts and not possibilities and the time has shown and will show that we are going to accomplish the plan.

This is my point of view and I know that everybody has a different view of it so let’s work hard to keep GF going since this is the reason we are here.

Cheers!

Check out his CV and then say that BN has enough experience to turn Gulf Air around. He has been in his post now for just enough time for the cracks to start appearing. Its true,he is not running the company and it is also true that his CSO is but the sad thing is that between them the level of aviation experience is sadly lacking. The last 2 posts are admirable in their loyalty but please....blind faith!!!!what does that achieve? To be critical can be negative when the comments are unfounded but sadly i think very soon the truth of BNs management (or lack of!)skills will emerge,to the detriment of Gulf Air.

"This is a very exciting deal for Gulf Air and the people of Bahrain. Like QPR, Gulf Air is building a phenomenal success story and with it a powerful global brand that has a world-class leading product," said Gulf Air chief executive officer Bjorn Naf.

The top commercial guy has gone, there is no replacement, and BN says he is hoding the commercial fort along with the Finnish strategy guy. BN has no commercial nous and does not understand that side of the business. His experience is all operational (he joined as COO) so looks like the sales and marketing side of the business will go to buggery until top commercial guy is replaced.

However, with turnover of staff recently GF will start to get a reputation like that of QR and be unable to attract good people.

So BN has no commercial experience!well that is a coincidence because he also has no operations experience. The strategy guy has no commercial experience either in fact i doubt he has much experience in anything!!!!So where does that leave Gulfair?Frightening thought, with the two of them running the show the future doesnt look so rosey.Chickens without heads spring to mind.

Hey all - tiny bit off topic, but does anyone know if Gulf Air still publish annual reports available for viewing on their website?

I have definitely seen Annual Reports being put on their site in the past - might have been 2 or 3 years ago though.

One of the Arabic newspapers quoted that GF lost B.D. 100M in 6 months this year. I wonder how he managed to get such info (and how true that is) given the sensitivity of this issue.

Kick the tosser out, he is a bloody washer. See what his mentor Andre Dose did , he almost destroyed the new Swiss and sold it to Lufthansa. Wasn't BN a Flight Attentand before? He is a tosser and GF should look forward to get a real management before it is too late.

the fact that he is bringing in old hardware as part of the expansion strategy says it all. we are tired of machines that keep us on edge with unservicabilities. the a321s have been an added headache to all which will add to gf's woes rather than enhance the busy summer schedule.
