Just a message to you guys out there who gave me such helpful steers. I found Steve's Digicam site particularly helpful, and I chose one of the cameras that he waxed lyrical about - the Canon PowerShot G2.
Bought it in Jessops in Cambridge. An exceptionally helpful young man was able to demonstrate a range of cameras without ref to the manuals - he has a bright future! In fact the service was so good that I binned the other shops I was going to try and bought from him.
Brilliant machine - manual about half an inch thick! Help! Where is the OCU situated!
