I have often assumed that the new breed of Chinese fighter aircraft would fare badly if confronted by the Typhoon/Grippen/Rafale breed of jet.

I assume the avionics and weapons systems are inferior to the extent that in the majority of cases, the Chinese ac would be defeated easily BVR.

Is this in fact the case or am I deluding myself?

Best,

The RAF have specialists on all kinds of threats (hundreds of them sitting in a hole starring at a phone just wait for your call)... Why not give them a call! That is of course allowing that your entitled to the info. Or do you not have a SSS/Brent phone in your press office? :ugh::ugh:

Until that point I would suggest you'll find everything you need to know in Janes or even the penguin ‘my first aircraft/spy manual’ ISBN f~~koffuspy123

Or indeed on Google as there was an open source comparative article a few years ago.

Google "Key publishing forums" and obviously have a look at the military section. Lots of misinformed banter to get stuck into.

To answer your question without sarcasm ( ohh, get me!!), according to the ' top secret' publication Flight International, the j10 as been a bit lacking in range and payload.
However, as so much effort as been expended in development this is being countered by ordering more copies:}:}:}

Thank you Mr Fish.

And what are the chances of the UK being hit by massive storms this weekend?

Only kidding.:}

'preciate honest answer to honest question from an aviator who dropped into Mil forum from GA out of interest and enthusiasm.

The J-11 is just a Chinese made Su-27.

Ha

Been doing my research. Unlicensed apparently. More composite bits, lighter...so they say at least. And if they start exporting the Sukhoi boys are going to be mighty pissed!

The J11's are not unlicensed, the first batch came directly from Russia back in 1992.
The newer ones are built under license at Shenyang.
Enough details to bore you silly at:

A few J10's on the flight line at Chengdu Airforce Base in China.

..........will most likely end up like the rusting MiG-19 and 21 copies on the the Northern ramp :}
