Having recently visited this site it has a massive RAF presence, and the wall of remembrance is very moving.
There was a chap putting names up when we were there...He was chipping away names of Hero's passed away in 2007.
That sad fact is this guy has got a bit of work to do!!
We will remember them all.

I was at the unveiling (?) of the wall of rememberence last year and my Mother, myself and my 5 year old son met the Queen and vaious other dignatries.
It was a freezing day and we couldn't hear the service from within the walls so spent an hour waiting inside the circle just looking at the incredible sculptures and names.
Indeed the most poinant part was the huge row of blank walls, with room for many thousand more names. So sad to think they have started work chisseling in new names already....

These are the most moving and harrowing sculptures I have ever seen; they are by a distinguished sculptor called Ian Rank-Broadley who is also responsible for the profile of HM the Queen on the latest issue of our decimal coinage. Please visit and be moved by this outstanding work of art and remembrance.

I have been twice recently and been moved both times especially by the memorial wall, the POWs of the Far East pavilion and the Burma and Java Railway monuments.
The second visit was for the unveiling of the Shackleton Memorial which is in a perfect setting by the river.
NMA is a worthy candidate for your vote.

Of course the NMA deserves our votes.
1968 was a memorable year; for instance, there was the end of steam on British main line railways, my and Mrs Ex's wedding and the death of Jim Clark, the greatest GP driver in history.
It's therefore sobering to consider that it is the only year since the war in which no British Serviceman has been killed on active service.

It is a fantastic and moving tribute to dear departed friends and colleagues. I was there a month ago and I shall return again this year. Absolutely the right winner in its category.
