Any help on this?
I was happily ppruning away a few minutes ago (1945Z) when my magic "ZoneAlarm" warned me of someone trying to access my PC. 194.178.73.227 turned out to be http://www.edu.hp.nl/ (Using my magic "NeoTrace" programme). Any ideas what this is all about? The web page was on about Linux & an Apache server.
PS Thanks to this forum for pointing me to those two excellent programmes.

I don't know why you were pinged, but I do know that it wasn't from PPRuNe.

We take privacy extremely seriously, and will not reveal the IP addresses of accessors unless legally compelled to do so.

You were probably pinged by a robot scanner, looking for an unprotected PC. I recommend you look at http://grc.com and check out the "Shields up" links to see if you are vulnerable.

http://www.cert.org/incident_notes/IN-2001-01.html

Some 'rascal' has issued a hacking toolkit aimed at busting into standard installations of the Linux operating system. Once in (having busted in via FTP and RPC) it proceeds to replace any file on the server called index.html with one saying "Ramen eaters love noodles".

Apart from being tautological (which I can forgive) it is also annoying (which I can't).

Damn those pesky kids...
