There are now over 1100 contributions to

Nimrod crash in Afghanistan Tech/Info/Discussion (NOT condolences)

The Thread starts here.

I don't know enough about the Nimrod to contribute so I will keep out of the debate.

However, post 1117 (albeit slightly off the original thread) from nigegilb makes a point, particularly the last line of the snippet.

Would our responses/contributions to (significant/serious) Threads that do give us concern (as well as being posted here) be better posted/e-mailed/telephoned to our 'leaders'?

I appreciate the quantity of 'armchair generals' in the Internet World, but the (collectively) thousands of years of experience that members of this Military Forum on PPrune have, surely should not go to waste with arguements amongst ourselves.

We are at War (Full Stop), our leaders should be told.

Maybe they read the Telegraph:

That article makes a hell of a good case, imo.

Taxydual,

You say.....

"We are at War"

Who precisely is "we" and who do you think they are at war with?

The UK last declared war in 1939, didn't we? Can't recall any such declaration since.

Washington does it on our behalf.

If that's the case, invade France. Immediately.

No independent government choice of action? The UK, for it's own purposes, whether Allied solidarity, a hope for something in return, or even just thinking it was the right thing to do, made the choice to join.

Man up and take responsibility for your own government.

Otherwise, it's really gotta suck not being in charge of one's own destiny.

So, on to France with you now......

Anyway, talking of France means this thread should be in Jet Blast.:}

OK, I'll admit that 'We are at War' could be construed as a sweeping statement.

I submit, in my defence, that the four words I used could be interpreted as a condensed version of this.
