I've just read that Australia is to have a new domestic airline - VivaJet.

VivaJet will be based in Melbourne and is expected to start in November 2008. They are taking the details on the official website for interested cabin crew!

Great news for interested Cabin Crew!!

Yeah, this has been around for a while now.

Not sure if I can see how it will be sustainable - complimentary inflight service and low fares with no premium cabin to subsidise it, especially on low capacity aircraft.

My guess is that this is yet another overseas concern pretending to be Australian.

Website seems to be down! That's promising. There's also Gold Airways and Lion Air!

If we have Lion Air, Tiger Air, surely we need a Bear Air! Oh My!

Anyway seriously guys. New airlines in Australia do not work, unless they are backed by serious players in the industry. Virgin Blue had Richard Branson, Jetstar had Qantas, Tiger had Singapore Airlines.

To any new crew, go for it! Great opportunities to see if you like the job, but just have a plan B... As for experienced crew, perhaps good if you have been out of the job, and looking to fly again, but if you've already got a flying job, stick with it!

RIP: Compass, Compass II, Ansett Australia, OzJet, Impulse, Australian Airlines, Antipodean... am I missing any.
