I am moving to sydney this august and am looking for a good flight school to start a PPL. Will hopefully be completing 6-8 lessons a month. A friend told me to go with Basair. Looked at the website and all looks ok and reasonable. But then again im english so everything in australia is cheaper.

Just after some advice on sydney flight schools, costs etc..
How much am i looking to pay for a PPL with Night Rating, IMC rating

Thanks
Mat

Basair has a few too many international students these days and tend to focus more on their full time diploma students. I made the mistake of renewing my IR there last year ...... Never again:ugh::sad:

Mate feel free to PM me if you have any questions:ok:

So who would you recommend for a CIR renewal/maybe an initial issue (been a while)? Sydney area.

Definitely Schofields. According to their website they have a new seminole on the line. Looks pretty flash with 2 GNS430s and you can definitely tell it's been kept in good condition!! :ok:

I just got my PPL in April at Camden. I got to know some people that came over from Basair. From what I heard Basair is maxed out.

There are no good schools left that I know about. MOST instructors these days are bare CPL holders with NO real/command decision making and what's worse is most of them have been taught by instructors with no charter/RPT or airline experience. Very sad state of affairs unfortunately. All you have to do is look at the fresh pilots coming up north over the last 6 months to see that the standard is way below what was expected just a few years ago....

Oppps, almost forgot. Johnsons/ Coast Jet at Port mac is one great school.

Curtis at Camden can meet the needs of CIR, and the guys have a ton of experience...
