Does anyone know about the seating requirements for infants in light aircraft?

When aboard Qantas, Virgin etc I have been given an infant restraint, but what happens in the case of taking the little fella (10 months old) up in a GA aircraft? Can I just jerry-rig a set up for his his baby car seat?

Any help would be great, Cheers

Been a while, but I remember vaguely being told that the baby seat has to be approved for aviation use.

I just put the (then) capsule in the back, mounted using the baggage tie down points in the baggage compartment of my tobago.

Now we have a baby car seat, mounted the same way.

We use the Neon Green Peltor Kids earmuffs - about $40-$50 from memory and quite a few for sale on ebay too.

Just gotta train them to keep it on their heads.

Good article in recent crash comic... basically you MUST ensure that if you use a baby seat/harness you must have the rearward strap connected otherwise the infant becomes a rapidly closing hinge in a rapid stop.
