A former chief of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), General Sir Francis Hassett, has died at the age of 90.
He spent more than 40 years in the ADF, serving in World War II, Korea and Malaya.
He held the top job in 1976 until the following year.
The Defence Force says General Hassett's legacy includes changing the way the Army was organised from state-based commands into core functions like training.
The ADF says he will be remembered for his inspiring leadership and dedication to duty.
