For the last two evenings I haven't been able to get into chat on my laptop; it keeps telling me "chat applet not found". I've tried two different ISPs, makes no difference. Tonight I tried on my PC, and had no problem at all. So what's suddenly gone wrong with my laptop? It's always been fine before. Anyone have any idea?

Please tell me in very simple language, cos I don't really understand much about computers except how to press the right buttons.

Do you have something like a Modem Booster etc... these nasty programs store the numerical digits for a website... Once the server changes, the name remains but the server address is different...whoops, you run into the old site and not the one you want to see...
Uninstalling Modem Booster does still keep these numerical figures...a lot of fiddling required...

Thanks, but I don't know what a modem booster is, and I don't follow that. Anyone else got any ideas; if not I guess I'll have to phone my local friendly computer shop.

It worked fine again last night. Just as well as I was getting severe chat withdrawal symptoms.

I think my laptop has decided I'm getting too addicted.

Whirly yo uaren't alone. I'm having difficulties with chat as well. Mine differ from yours in that the chat window comes up, scrolls, I can see people posting.... but the &^$@ thing freezes on my end. None of the functions work, I can't post, change settings etc. I've logged completely off the net come back and tried again, same thing.

Funny thing is, it doesn't always happen. It happened earlier today, worked ok an hour ago, and is now frozen again!
