Trying to access PPRuNe, I kept getting bumped to the AOL home page !
Cleared the cache and everything back to normal.
???

Your computer had its knickers in a twist! Sounds like the clear out of the cache sorted it out though.

Yes it did. Later noticed that my history was screwed too - 'visited links' showing places I'd never been to. One thing about Windoh!s and Internet Exploder - you think you've seen it all but always another surprise waiting.
