Wannabes/Trainees club in SYD

Hi Guys,

I’ve got a bit of an unusual question….

Does anyone know if there is some sort of a student pilot club/society that exists in Sydney where pilots-wannabes/trainee pilots meet, talk about their training progress and just generally chat about aviation over a glass of beer?

Perhaps some flying schools in SYD put on a BBQ or something from time to time?

Used to meet at the Aero club in the late 80's, early 90's but that's long gone...
Try the Hi Flyer pub over the road from Aerospace Aviation. That is, if the pub's still there.

I'm from the UK and will be in Sydney in a couple of weeks and want to go for a fly. Anyone have any suggestions where to go for decent airports/schools? Bankstown airport has been mentioned to me.
