G'day all, I have been a loyal customer for Microsoft Flight Sim since I started using computers back with Flight Sim 3. Recently I have been reading and hearing several comments by people saying Fly! is better. Having never even seen Fly! in action, I would appreciate any comments from anyone who can compare the two sims. I am interested in the comparison of flight dynamics, graphics, existing airports and systems accuracy...Thanks

Yes I agree with you entirely.
A well thought out and well executed post.

For flight 'modelling' X-Plane can not be beat. I put quotation marks around modelling because X-Plane *calculates* flight behavior based on mathematical formulae instead of relying on tabulated information as do other simulators. Have a look at it. It is not, however, a systems simulator. You will be impressed by it.

Got 'Fly!' for Christmas 1999. Very disappointed with it- so I downloaded the 10MB patch. Which didn't really improve things.

Graphics are no better than FS98, aircraft are difficult to 'learn' (i.e. keyboard shortcuts for things like 'flaps up one stage' are not as a FS user is used to- although they can be reassigned, after a fashion) and the flight planning screen is a farcical distraction.

You can, if you want, download better terrain. 50MB, from http://www.iflytry.com/

I was given Airfix Dogfighter for Christmas and it beats them all into submission! It equates to Toy Story meets the RAF! Fantastic fun when the serious flight sims get boring. Anyone else got to level 7?

I think there is a FLY2 in the pipeline. For more info visit the forums at www.avsim.com (http://www.avsim.com)

I saw Fly!2K on sale in the States last month for $24.99. I'm not familiar with the differences between Fly! and Fly!2K, they may be the same FAIK! If I remember rightly, Fly!2K had a few light aircraft and the HS125-800. Could be wrong though!

Drop them both...They are c*** and worthless.

IMOH, try PS13 (www.aerowinx.com) or Flitepro (www.flitepro.com). They are both IFR but much more realistic. Both will set you back about £250. I've never gone back to FS2000 since then.
