What is it about Darwin ?

The place would have to score the pprune record for most mentioned city.

Talking of records, does Darwin still hold the world record for highest volume of booze consumed per person ?

It's in the NT - a big "0" - check the start of the postcode :E Has to make up for it somewhere :}

Come with 0 to fill the logbook to be dumped and leave with 0 - seems to be happening alot in the NT at the moment.

What an introduction for those two - hope they stick at it and ignore the more colourful eggs in Darwin. Plenty more deserving fish (companies) in the sea for them.

No, but close... That would be Gove/Nhulunbuy.. :ok:

Darwin is clearly out shone by the locals club at Nguiu - sells more kegs in 6 x 3hr trading days/week than a certain Irish pub in Mitchell St trading all day and half the night 7 days/week!

the locals club at Nguiu

Luckily separated from Darwhine by a bloody great big ditch :hmm:

Building a moat around Mitchell St would have some merit as well.
Gallop the crocs around in it from the new croc voyeur attraction

Speaking of going off track...

When I lived in Darwin, many moons ago, driving south was called 'going down the track' That still the case ?

Speaking of going south, is that what "sounds like honey" is doing to another company. Remember Nkg.

Hope said individual is better person in his CP role than his display and attitude at a Casuarina crawl a few years back!

It is an amazing thing ;) But what more can be said - no AOC, no jobs... BUYER BEWARE ... All the Darwin newbies have now been advised to watch out for the fly-by-night operators with a bee thing happening (Referring to honey thing)

It is time to :) and move on...

But if another company is now susceptible to AOC issues then . . . . Nice to know before someone takes the plunge in Darwin.

Stationair 8 you mean to say there is good behaviour at the Crawl

Stationair8, that describes most fellows in Darwin. you'll probably need to be more specific ;)

(Edit - this was a poorly worded joke :) )

that describes most most fellows in Darwin.

I lived in Darwin from May 79 to December 81 and I was'nt involved in the Aviation scene then, but it's interesting to know that nothing has changed!:*

let me guess..was it Australasian Jet?? I know a good friend of mine who was let go, cause he had a bird strike!!!!!!!

Apparently he was asked to submit a ATSB report, and once he did, they said he put too much information and let him go...

GA's still the same..It was alot better back in the 90's

Was that the year when three guys ended up at RDH or the year the ute got run into the streetlight?

Back to the topic..

Does anyone know what kind of AOC difficulties are they encountering... i wouldn't be surprised if CASA bureaucracy would contribute to delays.

A quick search on CASA showed that AV8 Darwin holds an AOC until August 2008. So on face value, they can operate now???

Flyboy2101,

I heard he hit the bird on arrival at his destination, bent the nose gear, didnt tell anyone or get engineers advise, then got pax and flew back with some nose gear retraction problems and the chance of the gear failing on arrival, then lying on the ATSB report, saying the birdstrike occurred when arriving in darwin... so a little difference in facts!

btw i dont work for ausjet, so can't confirm any of the above.

ADAM210,

That AOC doesnt include C210 charter ops. Wonder if he was busted for doing them? :ooh:

Carro, you can hardly talk of people lacking FACTUAL information when half of what you posted is bull#@!% anyway. :=
In typical pprune fashion you have taken the truth and blown it all out of proportion. And then you tell us that you dont even work for Ausjet!....let me guess you heard it from a mate who knows the sister of that refueller in Townsville? weak

BTW the rumour above about AV8 letting all their pilots go has to be BS as well.
Whos flying the planes then? cos last time i checked they dont fly themselves:

Hey Carro,
U doooo talk alot of Bull&@#^. The engineers asked him to come back if he was happy, he came back with the gear down just to be safe, and he wrote on the ATSB form he came back with the gear down.

Few things:
1) Ausjet didnt bother to proof read his form before he submitted it, when he asked them to check it
2) He did NOT lie to the ATSB, he got sacked for writing the truth on the ATSB form, if u ask me thats bull(*&$

Ausjet simply has too many pilots in Darwin and r in financial problems at the moment, they r finding any reason to fire pilots..

I heard the Darwin Base is closing very very soon..mark my words
