Morning guys

As I was driving to work up the A14, after leaving Huntingdon/Spittles Interchange went past Graffam Water, saw one of our C-130 stretched, might be a J flying from south west at tree top level, very low level heading north east, by passed Molesworth village. Obviously it can't land at RAF Molesworth due to now runway since early 70s, so figured it be heading either towards Wittering or Cottesmore.

Starboard engine(s) thought looked like billowing smoke but could be wrong.

Smokey engines, it must be a 'diesel' powered C-130K.

Due to the oil price rise, some C-130s are being converted to run on coal. Loadmasters will now be re-roled as stokers :ok:

Sitting in my garden sipping Pimms and lemonade this lunchtime I saw an aircraft flying overhead, or it might have been a UFO. It was very high indeed and I could really only see there was something there because there was a long thin line of what looked like white smoke behind it. It can't have been a C-130 because they are big, but it might have been a VC10 or Tristar because there were no pies left in my fridge. I think it was a UFO though, I certainly couldn't identify it. Can anyone help?

Ah! I know this one D-IFF. You spotted a flight by a little know jet belonging to the Guild of Aviation Artists. It is used to produce long, thin clouds which, when dispersed, give interesting and picturesque sky-scapes for their paintings.

:hmm:

C130s used to overfly our house in Barton under Needwood low enough to make the TV antenna shake but I never saw one that didn't have smoke coming from all four engines. The one this chap saw must have had an FCU fault on 1 and 2.

That/s odd, I have been looking all day and not seen an aircraft all day.

I only saw one yesterday. That was odd too. It had no smoke fromits engines.

Seen a few Chinnys today, wonder if any of them are the newsworthy HC3's!!

For reference, I'm not very far from where a certain high-profile landing by said type was made not so long ago!

Chinny

If you didn't realise it before, the amount of p*ss taken on this site is a sure sign that the military sense of humour is Fully Serviceable.

Don't take it to heart, you are not the first to suffer and assuredly, you won't be the last !!

Best regards

Mr Fish, the full version for your delectation

(Did you ever see an elephant fly?)
(Well, I seen a horsefly)
(And I seen a dragonfly)
(Yeah, I seen a housefly)
(Ha-ha-ha-ha)

Yeah, I seen all that too...

I seen a peanut stand, heard a rubber band
I seen a needle that winked its eye
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly

(What d'you say, boy?)
I said when I see a elephant fly

I seen a front porch swing, heard a diamond ring
I seen a polka-dot railroad tie
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly

(I saw a clothes horse, he r'ar up and buck)
(And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck)
(I didn't see that, I only heard)
(But just to be sociable, I'll take your word)

(I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat)
(And I just laughed till I thought I'd die)
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly

Well I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly
(With the wings)
When I see an elephant fly

Well I guess that brings us back to the 'name the KC-45' competition then....

It is surely the KC-45 Elephant.
