London to La Paz, Bolivia

I would be grateful for suggestions as to the "best"/most economical/quickest way to get from the UK to La Paz, Bolivia, travelling sometime later this month.

Looking around on the web it seems that the only US carrier going to La Paz is AA, LAB is not operating, the Brazilian now airlines hardly seem to serving Santa Cruz let alone La Paz, and only KLM and Iberia cover Lima from Europe so there aren't that many possible permutations and combinations.

When would you be coming back?

Found deals for £777 all-in for going around the 21st June and returning about a month later. That's routing LHR-JFK-MIA-LPB-MIA-JFK-LHR (could miss out the JFK connection). If you were after cool routings for about the same and not worried about durations, buy separate tickets and do LHR-JFK-MIA-SAL-LIM-LPB-LIM-SAL-MGA-MIA-JFK-LHR. :-D My first port-of-call is normally Amadeus.net and its Best Fare section.

How about CO?? Most UK airports to EWR thru to LIM then connect to LPB with LP. The LP flight is not daily though.

Another option is with KL to AMS then on to LIM and again connect with either Lan Peru or Taca to LPB

Or if you can get to MIA then AA have a flight direct to LPB.

Thanks, everyone, for the information. There seem to be very few LIM-LPB flights nowadays and most of the ones that there are arrive late at night or in the small hours!

I like the CO option. I had some pleasant flights with them to and from Central America last month.

This isn't for me (unfortunately), and the return date isn't yet decided. The return trip will probably involve some wandering around Peru and Ecuador.

Does anyone have any recent information on or experience of Aerosur?

BTW, apologies to the moderators for posting this initially in the "wrong" place := - my thinking was that it was fundamentally a question about routes.

Not first hand, but I know a few people that only used them because they were cheap... and after flying with them once, never wanted to fly with them again.

From LIM to LPB, you have 2 good options IMO: Taca and Lan. And, to get from the UK to LIM, you have A LOT of options

A question which probably belongs over on the tech forums, but arrival at La Paz with a elevation of 13,300 feet means an altitude substantially above the normal limits for pressurised cabins. How do the crew handle the cabin pressure approaching such a place ?
