A few from me through the gloom. Highlight has to be the Hucks Starter display team, plus the fact that we had any flying at all in the murk. Quite how Peter Teichman and Mark Hooton (in the Vampire) found the airfield is beyond me.

Well done all.

Oh and can whoever is doing it please stop the rain dances please, the airfield cant take much more.

Firstly the Hucks

Nice photo's. What is the contraption in the last photo?! Something doesn't 'look right' about it!

Cheers

That "contraption" := is the 1910 Deperdussin. More information here (http://www.shuttleworth.org/shuttleworth_aircraft_details.asp?ID=2).

There must be something "right" about her to still be flying after 98 years! :ok:

Have a look here (http://www.shuttleworth.org/shuttleworth_aircraft_details.asp?ID=2) Its the Deperdussin dating from 1910.

In what way doesnt it look right?

Very nice photographs. I particularly liked the first two showing the "automatic" engine starter.

Thanks.

I think it's the fact that it looks like the C of G should be way aft of any position that would allow her to fly. The engine must be very heavy and the tail must be very light.

Thanks India42,

I think that's what I was getting at. I guess the fuselage is very long since most of the weight is up front. I wonder if there are problems with longitudinal stability?
