Cape Town - A failure by South African Airways to sign their sponsorship contract with SA Rugby has already cost the World Champions R3m this year, and costs are rising, a newspaper report has claimed. According to the report, SAA paid R25m for the contract, which is a lot more than the R10m said to be offered by BA as an associate sponsor. The newspaper claims that the rethink came after SAA's own board of directors queried the amount being paid as it was above what the deal was worth.
SA Rugby spokesperson Andy Conquhoun confirmed that the deal still wasn't finalised, but said it was due to be signed next week.
