the oldest type still in service

I have heard from sources that there are still some DC3 still in service mainly on pleasure flights, does anyone know what the oldest type that is still regular daily service, turboprop or jet???

I believe that Canada and some other counties still operate Lockheed T-33s, that's pretty old. There are still Boeing 707s still flying all over the world and some old Lockheed Electras still flying around.

Duncan, it depends on whether you mean any aircraft type including piddly little ones, or only airliners. Certainly on the airliner side there are still C-46, DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 and even a couple of DC-7s flying commercially - mainly cargo though. Only last year I flew on a DC-3 between Yellowknife and Hay River (Canada) on a scheduled passenger Buffalo Airlines flight. On the smaller side there are still many old examples flying around privately. Too many to name.

The DC-3 first flew in 1936.
The ones still flying will have been built around 1944 as C-47s which makes them about 64 years old!

I did mean airliners, and not really ones just doing pleasure flights, they are usually ones that are looked after with lots of tlc and not always run just for profit....

How about the Sikorsky S-61s still in regular service from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly? They've been operating the route since 1964, and are likely to celebrate the 50th anniversary with them in a few years' time.

The EAA still operate a 1929 Ford tri-motor on a regular basis from Wittman Regional WI (home to Oshkosh) During the show it will do 3 or 4 flights each hour for most of the day and is well worth the money

In addition to the scheduled Buffalo DC-3 to/from Yellowknife, there are a number of geriatric Budgies (HS748) still going strong in Northern Canada. And if you count Twotters as airliners , there are more hereabouts than you can shake a stick at.

Aer Lingus still have the Dh Dragon flogging around, and there are at least two Dh Dragon Rapides' doing "regular" pax flights :ok:

The EAA also make daily passenger flights in a 1927 Swallow biplane.
