...they're just going to follow the example of Mars Bar and Milky Way and make the barrel smaller

Petrol prices rising, rubbish. I've spent exactly the same for years.

When the empty light comes on, I put 20 of fuel in. Works fine for me.

Jetex Jim,

But do you find the empty light going on more often? :ouch:

You are right; it is coming on more often.
Must get it changed at the next scheduled service.

Slight thread drift...years ago I got stopped by a motorbike cop.He said I was over the limit, but let me off with a warning.I apologised and said I was low on fuel and was hurrying to fill up before it ran out.He then took the trouble to explain to me the error of my thinking.Somehow I kept a straight face and thanked him for his advice.

Effluent Man,
In the future I would suggest the following strategy: hold your stomach and wince in pain, release flatulence if possible, and explain that you had some bad gas station food and are desperately trying to get to the nearest toilet. Might even get yourself a police escort :ok:

Remember the well known football manager that used this defence for whizzing up the hard shoulder? Rumour has it he didn't make it, and his soil became "united" with his trollies...

How times have changed - recall doing a trip out of LHR circa 1972. The flight engineer said he had been stopped for speeding on the M4. When the police officer (who was on motorcycle) saw his flight crew uniform he said "Are you aircrew then?" "Yes - am running a bit late for my flight!". Said policeman said "No problem - just follow me sir!" - Off they set with flights flashing in the fast lane all the way to LHR!!

Once got trapped and lost in urban traffic in Lecce looking for our hotel. We eventually came to the cause of the snarl-up, some sort of argument with Police (Carabineri IIRC) involved.
We asked them for directions to the hotel, whereupon they decided this offered them the opportunity to escape and they then lead us (with blues and twos) through the traffic direct to our hotel . . .
