Qantas wil be cutting routes, cancelling the delivery of new aircraft and cutting hundreds of staff as a result of rising fuel prices.

Will this have a significant impact on recruitment?

My understanding was that the airline industry is booming (at least in Perth it is). I can't understand how flights can be cut at a time when air travel is increasing?

Hello Amalie :)
Part of the answer you'll find in a post on another thread; here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showpost.php?p=4142758&postcount=71).
You can also do a search (button in the yellow bar at the top, go for 'advanced) on the term 'fuel cost' and specify the search for the Rumours & News forum.
Lots about it there, and probably also on the Dunnunda & Godzone forum.

Ps: If you really want to get your teeth into it, there is a thread about rising oil prices and its effects on the industry here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=328629) in Jetblast. ;)
