Got the good news!
Should be going on A330 late summer and have time to prepare a bit.
Anyone can help to find sites or something to get prepared before the groundschool starts?
Thanks

Sabeji,
Congratulations.
Were you type rated on the Airbus to get the A330?
How long ago did you do the assessment?

The best way to prepare for the A330 at EK is to practice staying up all night and learn Indian!

Anyone for Hyderabad?

Try sitting in a sauna for a few hours each day, that should help. Then throw a toga party...

no I wasn't type rated.
We were 9 out of ten at the end of the 3 days and they checked the references right away. got the news five weeks later.
They have courses on A330 and B777, my guess is that if you are not type rated they put you on the first course depending on the time you ask before going...

If it's your first airbus, then get someone who already flies them (doesn't matter if it's 320 or 340 either they're all the same), to sit you down and very thoroughly explain the operating philosophy of ECAM, FMA and the idiosyncracies of the MCDU. There's a lot of talking with airbus, a lot of preparation can be done if you can get hold of the SOP / standard calls and get EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. right with regard to ECAM drills and of course checklists and normal operating procedure calls.

A330jam.com is the best website, smartcockpit got a lot of good stuff as well.

Welcome to EK Sabeji and enjoy the Emirates hospitalities.

And stay away from hospitals and jails, its very easy to get into one of this.

Same question, but for the B777. Anyone know where I can get study material?

Klavoll,

Congrats on EK acceptance. Did you fly Boeing before being accepted? I am try to understand how fleet type chosen for EK. Sometimes I hear having Boeing time leads to Boeing fleet and vice versa. Although not always the case - depends on need. But maybe having experience can influence choice if both available.

If I had choice I would select B777 myself. Although I am sure A330 might lead to better chance of flying A380 down the line.

Sabeji,

Congratulations and welcome to the bus. The best way to prepare for the 330 is to pick up a map of India, and study the cities very well, you'll be seeing a lot of these cities at 3am.
