One reason to join Etihad: if you did not make it to Emirates.

One reason to join Emirates: if you did not make it to Etihad.

The most obvious thing: Etihad's base is in Abu Dhabi, Emirates is in Dubai. Both has advantages (Abu Dhabi is much cheaper, Dubai is more fun for example) and disadvantages (Abu Dhabi is smaller and more conservative, Dubai's traffic is horrible).

Etihad considers previous flying experience, Emirates doesn't. If you HAVE it, it's advantage for you. If you don't, it will annoy you that promotion is faster for others.

Emirates has twice as much destinations than Etihad. BUT who cares if you will be trained on the new 380s (I don't think you can choose, it's the company's decesion) and fly to only a few cities.

My best friend works for Etihad, I work for Emirates. We both are happy, planning to complete at least 2 contracts with our companies.

It's hard to decide. Good luck!
